Note: Scholarship guidelines and application instructions are updated each year. The new guidelines will be available in 2015.

Nature of the Competition

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASHFoundation) invites doctoral students accepted or enrolled in a research doctoral program to submit applications in competition for the New Century Scholars Doctoral Scholarship awards.

The ASHFoundation is able to offer this special competition as a result of its Dreams and Possibilities Campaign initiative. This campaign raised over $2 million to support doctoral education and research in the field of communication sciences and disorders. The intention of this program is to support strong doctoral candidates who will pursue a teacher-investigator career in the academic environment, university/college level.

For 2014, the ASHFoundation will award up to twenty scholarships of $10,000 each. Selection of recipients will be completed in November and funding will be disbursed during the ASHA Convention in Orlando, Florida.

Potential applicants should carefully read the section on eligibility and, upon determining that all criteria are met, prepare an application for submission according to the Application Requirements.

Funding Note

Scholarship funding is to be directed toward educational support such as tuition, books, school-related expenses, living expenses, but not for personal or professional travel.
