Remembering Sadanand Singh, PhD (1934–2010)

Remembering Sadanand Singh, PhD (1934-2010)The ASHFoundation Board of Trustees and staff are deeply saddened by the recent passing of Dr. Sadanand Singh, a champion, leader and visionary for our field. A forward-thinking gentle giant with a huge heart, Dr. Singh had immense passion for each individual in our professional community, and worked tirelessly to advance the speech, language, and hearing disciplines. In 1986, following the untimely death of his first wife, Dr. Singh established the Kala Singh Memorial Fund through the ASHFoundation to ensure that the most promising international students studying in our field will have an opportunity to pursue their educational dreams. Through ongoing charitable contributions, Dr. Singh and his family have fostered the growth of the Kala Singh Memorial Fund which, to date, has supported 25 talented scholars in their educational pursuits.

Dr. Singh is a former member of the ASHFoundation Board of Trustees, and his wife Angie currently serves on the Board. In 2009, he was honored by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association as a Diversity Champion for his work to advance multicultural issues in communication sciences and disorders. In 2006, he received Honors of the Association, the highest honor the Association bestows, recognizing his distinguished contribution to the field of speech, language, and hearing.

Our hearts are heavy. We have lost a great friend, a devoted colleague, and a generous humanitarian.
