ASHFoundation-Funded Research Uncovers Gaps in SLPs' Dysphagia Education, and Identifies Ways to Close Them

In The ASHA Leader's April 2018 Foundational Questions column, Ianessa Humbert, a 2014 Clinical Research Grant recipient, discusses her study to understand the level of agreement among speech-language pathologists (SLP’s) who manage dysphagia in patients. Humbert recognized concerns about SLP’s formal and informal academic and clinical training in swallowing and she set out to help bridge the gaps through learning resources for students and clinicians involved in dysphagia.
